LOCATION

Puerto de Pollença, in the north of Mallorca, is the town’s port and is about 8 km from the old town. The bay offers kilometres of fine sandy beaches, some of which are sheltered from the wind by the Formentor peninsula. In contrast to other tourist strongholds on Mallorca, the coast here has fortunately not been completely built up by multi-storey hotel castles.

Pollença lies at the northernmost point of the Serra de Tramuntana and is surrounded by different types of landscape.

The old town of Pollença, with its winding streets and imposing houses, bears witness to the fact that the inhabitants of earlier eras did not suffer from poverty.

The town’s landmark is the 365 steps and the Calvary, at the top of which is the small baroque hermitage from the 18th century. Each step symbolises a day of the year.

Numerous cultural events and music festivals take place in the rustic historical atmosphere of the building.

The beautiful place was mentioned in short stories by Agatha Christi and impressed many other celebrities such as the English violinist Philip Newman, Winston Churchill y Charlie Chaplin.
